ALS ~ a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

~Muriel Wood~

Muriel Wood my beautiful mother was an exceptionally vibrant woman that was always dressed to the nines with hair and make up in check. She was a mother, a nana, a sister, a daughter and an aunt. She worked hard and enjoyed life especially with her family.  ALS robbed her and us of the later years of her life and I want to help in her memory by donating a part of my commission on each home sale to ALS research and the equipment loan program so one day no one will have to suffer from this horrific disease. Please feel free to share so we can bring awareness to help those living with this terrible disease.

I am honoured  to announce I have teamed up with ALS of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to bring awareness to ALS, in memory of my beautiful mother Muriel Wood who lost her battle last year. I want to honour her by donating a portion of my commissions on every house sale to "research for a cure" and to help fund the “Equipment loan program”.   Please join me in supporting this cause so we can hopefully soon end the suffering that comes with this disease.

WHAT IS ALS?

  • ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Motor Neuron Disease (MND) or Lou Gehrig’s disease after the famous baseball player.
  • ALS destroys the motor neurons which are an important link in the nervous system. Motor neurons send messages to your voluntary muscles (those muscles you control like your arms, hands, legs) as opposed to involuntary muscles like your heart.
  • In 90% of cases, ALS occurs randomly in the general population. It is known as sporadic ALS. In 5 – 10% of cases, the disease is inherited and known as familial ALS.
  • Out of every 100,000 people, 6 – 8 will be diagnosed with ALS.
